Introducing - local business Spotlight!
We sit down with some of our restaurants to get to know the story behind their business, the team behind the success, and how they embrace technology as they continue growing.
First up, the only and only - Ggiata! Website Instagram TikTok
Q: Could you tell us a little more about your business, the story behind it, and where you're headed?
A: Ggiata was founded by Jack Biebel, Noah Holton-Raphael, and Max Bahramipour —- three friends from Montclair, New Jersey, who wanted to bring the neighborhood Italian to Los Angeles. Our goal is to become a fixture within the communities our stores are in, just like the delis we grew up going to, where friends and families would congregate.
We founded Ggiata as a Cloud Kitchen in May 2020 during the pandemic lockdowns. By March 2021, we opened our first location in Melrose Hill, and since then, we have opened several other stores in amazing communities in Los Angeles, like Venice Beach and Highland Park
Q: What's your mindset behind leveraging technology at Ggiata?
A: We leverage technology at Ggiata to help empower our amazing team to do their jobs better and faster, allowing them to spend more time providing amazing hospitality to our customers.
Q: How has connecting your Square POS to your 3rd-party delivery channels via Stream helped your business?
A: Stream has completely streamlined our order and menu management for Uber Eats & Postmates. The Stream integration with Square is flawless, and our team can manage orders on a single Kitchen Display System (KDS) which is a huge efficiency gain
Q: How was this all managed previously?
A: We spent years dealing with outages and poor functionality with the other order aggregators. Stream was miles ahead of the other products we used and have not looked back since we switched. Stream's customer support is responsive and solution-oriented. Managing restaurants requires you to talk to a lot of software support teams, and Stream's support team consistently delivered.
Be sure to check out Ggiata's the next time you're in Los Angeles to try one of their viral sandwiches!

Our next conversation is with the specialty, high-end roastery - Brown Bag Coffee Roasters (BBCR)! Website
Q: Could you tell us a little more about the magic behind BBCR?
A: BBCR (Brown Bag Coffee Roasters) is a specialty coffee roastery, focusing on only the Top 1% of Arabica coffee found in the world. All of our coffees are graded by the Specialty Coffee Association and cup in the 80’s, meeting specialty grade standards. Our goal is approachable specialty coffee and we accomplish this by roasting to the benefit of each bean at an exceptional price point.
Q: How do you think about embracing technology at BBCR?
A: BBCR’s founder Shann was a career IT professional before getting into coffee, so it’s no wonder BBCR embraces technology at every level. From state of the art roasting infrastructure, to cloud based inventory and customer experience solutions BBCR ensures we adopt technology to ensure our team has the tools necessary to meet our customers demands.
Q: How has utilizing Stream helped BBCR and it's operations?
A: BBCR has embraced 3rd party delivery applications (Uber, Skip & DoorDash) to ensure our customers who can not visit our brick and mortar locations can still experience our award winning coffee and food. When we signed up for these solutions, having a tablet for each solution was very bulky. Using Clover as our Point of Sale solution, Shann set out to find a way for these orders to come through to his team. This search led Shann to www.streamorders.com. With solid and reliable support from Stream we were up and running in short order. The interface is simple and allows any in-the-moment changes to be communicated with the 3rd parties instantly. My team loves that orders come through as a normal order on the Clover receipt printer. Overall, the experience as been A++
Q: What were you doing previously to manage online orders?
A: Previous to Stream, Shann used a number of different aggregator programs. Shann is a multiple business owner and has tried Deliverect, Cuboh and direct integrations on POS solutions in the past. None have had as clean an interface as Stream, or as simple to use for my team. In fact, Shann recently started up another business - Mashd and made sure one of the first apps we integrated was Stream.
Be sure to try BBCR at one of the brick-and-mortar locations, or check out their website to order their highly-reviewed coffee online!
